It was Friday night, fresh back from three weeks in Japan looking for abandoned buildings. The car chose that moment to break down outside the ABC studio, just before the interview. While Sal and our daughter waited for a friend with jumper cables, I went inside to talk to Sarah Mashman about Lost Collective and how the project keeps drawing people from outside the photography world.
It was after hours. The security guard at reception was not expecting me, and he almost did not let me in. We sorted out the name confusion at the last minute and made it to what seemed to be the only studio in the building still with anyone in it.
The interview itself was Sarah in Hobart and me in Sydney. You can probably hear the distance in the audio.

By the time we got back to the car, our friend had arrived and sorted out the battery. Both ends of the night resolved themselves.
