From the field notes
A stained mattress sits flat on the concrete floor, pushed against the back wall. Beside it, a deflated rubber tyre. An office chair on castors faces the bed, its vinyl armrest cracked. A wooden dining chair stands opposite. Spray cans litter the ground between them. Every surface of the besser block walls carries layers of graffiti, tags overlapping in blue, green, yellow, black. The concrete floor is gritty, damp in patches. Light falls from the left, hard and grey.
