The Grandstand Motel at Warwick Farm, near Liverpool, a two storey red brick building lit down its centre by a single streetlamp late at night. A red fire hose reel breaks the brick on the lower left wall, and a pale blue tarp covers a ground floor window at the far left. The doors still carry old room numbers, 15 on the upper floor and 3 and 2 along the ground, with weeds and grass pushed up along the base of the facade beneath darkened windows and drawn curtains.

About this print
The Grandstand Motel at Warwick Farm, near Liverpool, photographed at night: two storeys of red brick lit down the centre by a single streetlamp, numbered doors along both floors, a red fire hose reel on the lower wall, a blue tarp over a ground-floor window and weeds pushing up along the base of the facade. It was one of the 101 traditional Australian motor inns photographed for Hotel Motel 101 in 2018, on runs out of Sydney that began on the Hume Highway.

The series
Hotel Motel 101
Hotel Motel 101 is a series of photographs of 101 roadside motels in New South Wales, all within 170 km of Sydney: across the city, out to the Central Coast, over the Blue Mountains to Lithgow and through the Illawarra to Kiama. They were photographed at night from 29 March to 12 April 2018. The frames show numbered doors and curtained windows facing the car park, outside stairs to upper walkways, chairs by the doors and lit motel signs.
