Dalgety petrol station sits abandoned in rural New South Wales. Faded paint peels from its weathered walls. Rusting pumps stand silent, a remnant of a past era of motor travel.

04 FROM THE FIELD NOTES

Three fuel pumps stand on a concrete island at Dalgety's roadside service station. The centre pump, painted yellow, carries a black "CLOSED" sign across its face. Flanking units show rust blooming through white enamel. "STOP ENGINE NO SMOKING" placards hang on both outer pumps. Weeds push through cracks in the concrete. Behind the bowsers, trees have grown tall and thick, swallowing whatever yard once existed. A pale green fibro building sits to the left. Storm cloud presses low and grey overhead.
