04 FROM THE FIELD NOTES

Stubble rows run in straight lines across a harvested grain field, dark furrows cutting through dry golden stalks. A single tree stands mid-paddock, broad canopy full and green against a washed-out sky. Haze sits thick across the background, reducing distant trees and fencelines to grey silhouettes. A pile of cleared timber and old fencing material slumps to the right. The air looks heavy. No movement.
