From the field notes

Wet asphalt runs straight between two rows of low-rise buildings. The road surface is slick, dark red-brown, reflecting a flat grey sky. Plaster walls show water staining and patches of rust. Blue corrugated cladding peels away from timber frames. A teal-painted platform buckles at street level, traffic cones marking its edge. Power lines sag between concrete poles. A single tree pushes pale spring buds into cold air. No people. No cars.
