About this print
A rusted steel frame lies in the paddock beside the former manager's office at Elrington Colliery, near Abernethy. The mine closed in December 1962 with large reserves of coal still in the ground, BHP citing persistent operating losses. Within two years, Elrington Engineering Pty Ltd had opened in the old colliery workshops. The mining infrastructure left outside slowly gave itself back to the paddock. This frame, photographed in 2017, is what remains of that process.
