From the field notes

Timber steps descend between two raised decks, their boards split and grey with weathering. Red-stained cladding covers the main building to the left. Windows sit dark. A narrow brick courtyard separates the structures, weeds pushing through the joints. A rusted barbecue stands near the far railing. Dead leaves and bark litter the ground. Eucalyptus canopy presses in from every side under flat overcast light.
