Basalt columns rise from the sea at Bombo Headland, near Kiama on the Illawarra coast of New South Wales. The columnar jointing was split clean by cooling and by wave action. The headland was quarried for blue metal, and the geological site was listed on the NSW State Heritage Register in 1999. Surf hits the column bases at sunrise.
