About this print
The front corner window at Big Hill Post Office sits at the public end of the building, a few paces from the kiosk and mail slot that handled 76 years of correspondence for the surrounding district. Big Hill Post Office opened on 1 November 1869 and closed in 1945. For most of that span, the post office was a family home that doubled as the local mail point. By 2020, paint was peeling from the frames and the timber was working itself apart, but light still came through the grimy panes much as it always had.
