Sunlight catches the faded paint and weathered timber of a verandah wall. This decaying structure belongs to an abandoned post office, its surface marked by years of exposure. Rust colours the lower sections.

04 FROM THE FIELD NOTES

Weathered timber boards line the corner where two walls meet at the verandah. The grain has silvered out, bleached by decades of sun and rain. A six-pane window sits off-centre, its glass clouded, one lower pane cracked. Behind it, something blue. A sheet of corrugated iron hangs loose from the roofline above, peeling away from the fascia and curling down across the wall like a slow collapse in progress.
