Sunlight streams through the grimy, broken window panes of the abandoned post office. Peeling paint frames a view of deep decay within the historic structure.

04 FROM THE FIELD NOTES

A six-pane timber window set into weatherboard cladding, grey and split with age. The lower centre pane is gone. The upper panes hold dirty glass that reflects tangled branches from outside. Rust has bled down the corrugated iron roof in long orange streaks, staining the gutterline. A dry vine threads through the frame. A loose plank leans against the wall below the sill. Through the broken pane, a sliver of green is visible deep inside the building.
