The grand front facade of the historic post office rises. Paint peels from its weathered timber. Empty windows gaze from the upper floor. The silent entrance once welcomed daily visitors.

04 FROM THE FIELD NOTES

From above, the building's hipped roof spreads wide across green pasture. Corrugated iron sheeting shows a patchwork of rust and faded blue-grey paint, each panel at a different stage of oxidation. Two brick chimneys break the roofline. A smaller gabled structure sits to the north. Galvanised water tanks lean against the weatherboard walls, their corrugated sides streaked with age. Bare winter trees press close. The surrounding grass is thick and unwalked.
