A forgotten kiosk stands within a derelict post office. Its service window, once bustling, now frames an empty counter. Dust settles on faded signage, a silent witness to time's passage.

04 FROM THE FIELD NOTES

Weatherboard cladding, silver-grey and split along the grain. The roof is corrugated iron, rust blooming through old paint in wide patches. A small window sits off-centre, its glass gone, flyscreen sagging outward. The doorway opens into darkness. Tussock grass and mud press close to the foundation. Beyond the fence line, flat pastoral country stretches toward a low eucalypt tree line under overcast sky. A single bare deciduous tree leans nearby, stripped for winter.
