04 FROM THE FIELD NOTES

Weathered hardwood cladding runs horizontal across the rear wall. A sheet of corrugated iron has buckled outward from the upper section, exposing the dark cavity behind. The rust on the roof is deep orange, layered and flaking. A small deciduous tree presses against the building, its yellow autumn leaves bright against the grey timber. Tussock grass grows thick at the base. Eucalyptus stands tall behind. The air looks damp, overcast, still.
