Concrete columns hold a low ceiling over a broad processing floor. Brick pavers run wall to wall, scattered with debris and loose cabling. Insulated pipework traces the ceiling line. Corrugated metal panels clad the walls, their white surface broken by red graffiti tags. A steel staircase climbs toward the upper level at the rear. Light falls flat and cold through openings deeper in the building. The air looks heavy. Damp stains mottle the ceiling sheets overhead.
The Peters Ice Cream Factory in Mulgrave, Victoria, operated from 1929 as part of a supply chain that made Peters one of Australia's largest dairy manufacturers. The plant processed raw milk and cream ingredients before they moved through mixing and freezing lines. Production ceased in 2014, and the complex sat vacant until demolition began to clear the site for residential redevelopment.
