This former blood pit at the rear of the rendering plant is now filled with rainwater and scattered with crates, hoses and debris.
In operation, it received material from the hogger and continuous cooker, separating fat from solids in a tightly controlled process.
The resulting tallow was stored for transport, while the remaining solids were pressed and ground into meat meal for fertiliser and animal feed.
This art photography print captures the raw mechanics and layered history of a space once central to rendering and recovery.
