Weathered timber planks and corrugated iron cladding meet at the corner of a rural outbuilding. The roof is heavily rusted. A sheet of galvanised metal hangs loose where a vent or shutter has failed. Bare branches press close to the wall.

Weathered hardwood cladding runs horizontal across the rear wall. A sheet of corrugated iron has buckled outward from the upper section, exposing the dark cavity behind. The rust on the roof is deep orange, layered and flaking. A small deciduous tree presses against the building, its yellow autumn leaves bright against the grey timber. Tussock grass grows thick at the base. Eucalyptus stands tall behind. The air looks damp, overcast, still. Rural post offices like this served as the sole point of contact between isolated farming communities and the outside world. They handled mail, telegrams, and money orders. When populations thinned, the buildings were simply left.
