Dried stalks of rice hang in the foreground, their husks pale and papery against deep shadow. Behind them, the blurred outline of a classroom doorway. Muted greens, reds, and yellows colour the corridor walls. The grain catches a thin edge of light. Everything else falls to darkness.
Macquarie Boys Technology High School operated in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta from 1959 until its closure in 2002. The school offered vocational and trade-based education, including agricultural studies. After closing, the campus sat empty for years, its corridors and specialist rooms left largely intact. Dried crop specimens remained where they had been placed decades earlier.
